Beat of the Boroughs NYC: Online

The Center for Traditional Music and Dance (CTMD) is proud to announce our program series Beat of the Boroughs: NYC Online made possible through the generous support of the New York Community Trust’s NYC COVID-19 Response & Impact Fund, the Howard Gilman Foundation and the Scherman Foundation. This online series celebrates the artistry of fifty of  New York City’s leading immigrant performers and diverse cultural traditions from around the world found right here in New York City, while furthering the public’s understanding and appreciation of their work in these difficult times.

Each episode highlights an artist or ensemble in an online format of their own creation. Whether a workshop, lecture-demonstration, or streamed live performance, a stellar cast of musicians and dancers presents their personal stories, remarkable traditions, and pandemic experiences. Arun Venugopal of WNYC serves as the series host and introduces each episode.
