Yiddish New York Returns for the Fifth Year

CTMD is proud to be a sponsor of this year’s fifth annual Yiddish New York (YNY) festival, taking place from Saturday, December 21st to Thursday, December 26th, 20186 at the 14th Street Y on Manhattan’s historic Lower East Side. The nation’s largest workshop/festival celebrating Yiddish language and culture — including its signature music, klezmer — YNY features leading performers and scholars of Yiddish music, art, theater, and language, and is quickly becoming one of the most prominent events celebrating Yiddish life in North America.

This year’s featured faculty and performers will include Bessarabian Yiddish/klezmer duo Efim Chorny and Susanna Ghergus; acclaimed Amsterdam-based Yiddish singer Shura Lipovsky; Grammy-winning trumpeter Frank London; pioneering klezmer scholar and performer Walter Zev Feldman, and many more.

Yiddish New York reaches out to participants of all ages and backgrounds. The Kids and Teens program encourages the participation of families with children and create innovative interdisciplinary projects designed to engage the next generation of Yiddish artists.
