The Center for Traditional Music and Dance is proud to partner with Drom NYC and Odelia Music to present La Patronal, a unique brass band rooted in the traditions of the ‘fiestas populares’ and ‘patronales’ from the Andes in South America.
An interactive performance and cultural conversation moderated by Dr. Cesar Colon Montijo will explore Nuyorican community history, diasporic sounds, transmission of tradition and next generation practitioners gaining momentum within the community and beyond.

Hailing from the Uzbek city of Bukhar, this tight-knit community has resided in Central Asia from over two millennia. Today, 70,000 Bukharians have immigrated to the United States – and 50,000 have settled in Queens.
