Yale Students enjoy Bukharian lunch with Shashmaqam Ensemble!

As you may know Queens, NY is home to the largest Bukharian Jewish community in the U.S., and that the vast majority of the community reside in Rego Park and Forest Hills. Since the 1980s, Bukharian jews have been migrating to NYC from Central Asian countries like Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, bringing with them a unique set of traditions and customs that tell stories of the Jewish diaspora. Check out images from our recent event in December with the students of Yale! Students enjoyed a delicious Bukharian lunch, tea service, accompanied by the Ensemble Shashmaqam trio.
