For this special episode, we take a look back with the one-and-only CTMD Touring Artists Cheres Ensemble and Andriy Milavsky, band leader, clarinetist, and wind instrumentalist extraordinaire. Shot in the late nineties, this restored promotional footage reveals the virtuosity, energy, and spirit of Carpathian folk music. A brief self-introduction by Milavsky in the CTMD archives begins the program. Since his arrival in the United States in 1991, Milavsky has appeared with the Kyiv Symphony Orchestra, the Amato and Riverside Operas, worked on experimental projects, produced Off Broadway shows, and taught music privately and institutionally. Currently, he performs regularly as a B-flat, A, E-flat, and bass clarinetist with opera and symphony orchestras, woodwind and string quintets and other ensembles.
