Jomion & the Uklos is a family band from Benin, West Africa. Led by Gangbé Brass Band founder Samuel “Jomion” Gnonlonfoun, members of the ensemble also include Jomion’s brothers JB & Mathieu and his daughter Rose. They perform music within the cross-section of Benin’s traditional vodun rhythms, Caribbean styles and jazz– a style that they have termed “whedo-vodun-jazz.” The group also spends time discussing the country and music of Benin and reflecting upon performing during the pandemic.
