Kewulay Kamara, a poet and storyteller from Sierra Leone, shares poetry, stories, and music rooted within the Mandeng oral traditions of the Jali and the Fina. Kamara is also the founder and director of Badenya, Inc.- a non-profit organization orignially begun as a Center for Traditional Music and Dance initiative. Badenya, Inc. works to present cross-cultural understanding of African traditions. In this short documentary, Kamara is joined by his neice Fanta Kamara and musician Mohamed “Medo” Kuyateh to showcase these art forms and discusses his familial ties to these traditions through his Fina lineage.
