Lamine Thiam

Shot six feet apart in Central Park over the summer of 2020, this lecture/demonstration features Senegalese dancer Lamine Thiam performing and discussing sabar drumming, traditional West African dance, his life story, and the social and spiritual meanings of his movements and sounds. Lamine is also an educator at Peridance Center and Cumbe Center for African and Diaspora Dance, an actor who has appeared in Hollywood productions like Amistad (1997) and off-Broadway stages.
