Martha Zarate (Mazarte Dance Company) and CTMD Touring Artist Ramon Ponce (Mariachi Real de Mexico) present the diverse influences and styles of traditional Mexican music and dance in this joint program. While Zarate demonstrates the steps of polka-influenced or coastal Afro-influence dance forms, Ramon provides a lecture demonstration of mariachi song. Audiences are encouraged to participate and learn the basic steps. This episode was created in partnership with the Flurry Festival and the Bronx Music Heritage Center.
