Oyu Oro Afro-Cuban Ensemble

Lead and founded by internationally renowned, master dancer Danys “La Mora” Pérez, CTMD Touring Artists Oyu Oro Afro-Cuban Dance Ensemble have worked for over two decades to preserve Afro-Cuban culture through music, song, and dance that is both traditional and experimental. Following a self-introduction from Pérez covering her immigrant story, the ensemble presents a recording of “Siete Mares” (Seven Seas). This original work is a dance drama that reflects the cultural perspective, dance identity, history and mythology of Afro-Cuban culture. It is the third installment of the Patakin series based on mythological stories of Yoruban and Afro-Cuban origin.
