Haitian dancer, choreographer, drummer, and educator Peniel Guerrier presents a community program in honor of Jean-Jacques Dessaline, a key leader of the Haitian revolution, at Flanbwayan Haitian Literacy Project (www.flanbwayan.org) in Prospect Lefferts Garden, Brooklyn. An opening ceremony with Deenps “Gran Bwa” Bazile, founder of the Bwa Kay Iman celebration of Haitian arts in Prospect Park, begins a two-hour long concert shown in two episodes. Performances include Kriye Bòde (www.kriyebode.com), Guerrier’s dance community ensemble, youth students from Flanbwayan, audience members, and even the camera crew.
