This episode of Beat of the Boroughs: NYC Online features a lecture demonstration by Japanese classical dancer, choreographer, and CTMD Touring Artist Sachiyo Ito. One the premiere exponents of kabuki, noh, and Okinawa court dance in the United States, she converted her living room into a dance studio during the pandemic to teach her students and present her work. In this program, she provides insight into the movements and meanings of Japanese classical dance, performs a traditional dance piece and presents recordings of her intercultural explorations with other artists.
