Sebastían Cruz and Lucía Pulido

For more than twenty years, Colombian guitarist, composer and teacher Sebastián Cruz has been at the forefront of the New Colombian Music movement (Nueva Música Colombiana) in New York City. A resident of East Harlem, he is joined by vocalist Lucía Pulido, with whom he has collaborated on several projects, composing songs featuring regional Colombian rhythms, creative improvisation, and poetry. As a soloist and leader of trios and quartets, he has performed and recorded with La Cumbiamba eNeYé, the Cheap Landscape Trio, and Los Aliens. From el Caldero (the Cauldron), his Bushwick, Brooklyn studio, Cruz and Pulido present a program of original songs drawn from his eclectic repertoire, demonstrating Colombian cultural expression grounded in both tradition and innovation.
