CTMD is very excited to announce Touring Artist Sidiki Conde for Beat of the Boroughs NYC: Online. In his program, Conde discusses how he was able to rise above the circumstances he was put in. At just 14 years old Conde lost his legs to Polio while living in Guinea, West Africa. He taught himself to dance on his hands in order to join in the traditional ceremonies and be recognized and embraced by his community. In Africa, art plays a critical role in the lives of the community. Traditional music and dance are the vehicles by which people connect to their community. Through his story and music, Conde reminds audiences that we are all part of one community.
