A Celebration of Tibetan & Himalayan Traditional Arts

Part of the ongoing Inner Asian Sustaining Cultures Initiative, this concert was the result of a partnership with the Himalayan Language and Culture Program and the Himalayan Elders Project at the Sherpa Temple in Elmhurst, Queens. In addition to supporting HEP’s food program for elders, it also provided an opportunity to celebrate and connect with the wider Himalayan community. In the process, we presented and documented the traditional artistry of community talents and experienced professionals, who performed on the same stage for the sake of good health and healing for all. In particular, the New York Ex-TIPA Ensemble revealed the breadth of its extensive repertoire of Tibetan and Himalayan song, dance, and instrumental traditions. Many thanks especially to the New York State Council of the Art’s Restart NY initiative for making this program possible.
