Beat of the Boroughs: NYC Online returns with CTMD Touring Artists the Zikrayat Ensemble, a group of phenomenal artists dedicated to presenting the classical music and dance traditions of Egypt and the greater Arab World in a vibrant stage production evoking the theatrical atmosphere and dramatic depth of classic Egyptian musical cinema. Members Sami Abu Shumays and Zafer Tawil perform selections from traditional and contemporary Egyptian music and raqs sharqi dance (a.k.a. belly dance) featuring Mariyah, along with demonstrations of instruments and musical forms.
